Step 17

Choosing Depth Over Doing Everything

It is easy to start believing that being constantly busy means you are doing well.

Sometimes students overload themselves because they genuinely care about many things. Sometimes they do it because slowing down feels uncomfortable.

But trying to do everything often weakens your ability to invest deeply in anything.

Core Idea

Depth usually matters more than quantity.

Your One Action

Start your Depth Decisions note.

Write:

  • one activity you want to invest in more intentionally

  • one commitment that may matter less to you now

Then complete: “The reason this feels worth deeper investment is ______.”

Optional prompt: “I feel most engaged when I am able to ______ in this activity.”

Depth Decisions

Optional Prompt Answer

Deeper Reflection

Which activity currently feels most worth deeper investment? What makes it meaningful enough to spend more energy on?

Life Question

What choice about your time or activities are you trying to make more intentionally this year?
