Adding Your First Activity Description

Listing activities is one thing. Describing them is where students often freeze.

People start worrying about sounding impressive, polished, or "good enough." That pressure usually makes the writing worse, not better.

You are not trying to sound extraordinary here.

You are trying to communicate clearly.

Clear and honest usually works better than overly impressive.

Open the Activities section of your Common App or another application portal.

Choose one activity you prepared earlier and complete as much of the entry as you can, including:

In the Application Activities Progress box below, record the activity you worked on and anything you still need to complete, verify, or improve.

Optional Prompt: “The thing people probably would not immediately see behind this activity is ______.”

Ask: "Am I describing what I genuinely did, or what I think colleges want to hear?"
