Continuing Your Essay
A lot of students assume something is wrong if their first draft feels messy.
Usually, nothing is wrong.
Early drafts are supposed to be incomplete, awkward, and unfinished.
The goal right now is not to improve the draft.
The goal is to continue it.

Early drafts are supposed to exist before they are supposed to sound good.
Your One Action
Return to your Essay Fragments File.
Find the draft you started in the previous step. Add 3–5 more sentences.
You might write about:
what happened next
what you were feeling at the time
what made the situation difficult
what changed afterward
what you understand now that you did not understand then
Do not reread everything before writing. Do not edit previous sentences. Just continue.
Optional prompt: “While writing, I noticed myself wanting to ______.”
Examples:
restart
sound smarter
delete things
skip details
stop writing
make it sound more impressive
