Step 34

Defining What Fit Means for You

People talk about "fit" constantly during the college decision process, but a lot of students never actually define what that means for themselves.

Without your own definition, it becomes easy to absorb other people's priorities without noticing.

Prestige. Rankings. Reputation. Location. Expectations.

Some of those may matter to you.

Some may not.

Core Idea

A college can look great on paper and still not feel right for you.

Your One Action

Start your My Fit Priorities List.

Write down 3 things that genuinely matter to you in a college.

Examples:

  • class size

  • location

  • flexibility

  • campus culture

  • cost

  • distance from home

  • academic programs

  • social environment

  • internship opportunities

Then rank them in order.

Then complete: “The thing that matters most to me right now is ______.”

Which of these priorities seems most connected to the environments where you tend to learn, contribute, and function best?

Optional prompt:“The priority I feel most influenced by other people about is ______.”
