Step 48

Handling Uncertainty About What's Next

Even after making a decision, uncertainty usually doesn’t disappear completely.

Students often think they are supposed to feel fully confident by now.

Most don’t.

There are still many unanswered questions:

  • Will I fit in?

  • Will I handle the workload?

  • Will I change my mind?

  • Will I be okay away from home?

  • What if this isn’t what I expected?

Those thoughts are completely normal.

Core Idea

Uncertainty does not automatically mean you are making the wrong choice.

Your One Action

Start your Uncertainty Navigation Notes.

Complete: “I don’t know ______ yet, but I can still move forward by ______.”

Keep the second part concrete and realistic.

Examples:

  • asking questions

  • staying organized

  • communicating early

  • trying things gradually

  • building routines

  • asking for support

Then complete: “The uncertainty I feel most right now is about ______.”

Optional Prompt: “The situation feels hardest when I start imagining ______.”

Optional Prompt Answer

Deeper Reflection

Ask: "Does this uncertainty actually stop me from taking the next step, or does it mainly make the step feel emotionally uncomfortable?"

Those are not always the same thing.

Life Question
