Step 5
Opening the Application Platform
A lot of stress comes from avoiding things that still feel unknown.
Students sometimes wait to open applications until they feel "ready," but readiness usually comes after you've seen the process, not before.
So don't try to master anything yet.
Just look at it.
Core Idea
The unknown usually feels weightier than the thing itself.
Your One Action
In your College Process Hub, add a section called Application Notes.
Open the Common App or another college application portal. If needed, create an account.
Then explore sections like:
Profile
Education
Activities
Writing
Do not complete anything yet. Just explore. Then write:
one section that felt more straightforward than expected
one section that immediately felt confusing or overwhelming
Then complete: “The section that currently feels heaviest is ______.”
Optional Prompt: “Would this feel less stressful if I understood it better, or am I assuming it is harder than it actually is?”
Application Notes
Optional Prompt Answer
Deeper Reflection
What felt more manageable than I expected after exploring the platform?
What still feels unclear?
Life Question
