Step 27

Understanding Different Paths

When students think about the future, it is easy to assume there is one "correct" path everyone is supposed to follow.

There is not.

People build meaningful lives in very different ways, often with turns they did not expect at first.

Core Idea

There is more than one meaningful or successful path forward.

Your One Action

Start your Different Paths Archive.

Think of one person whose path interests you. This could be:

  • an older student

  • teacher

  • mentor

  • family friend

  • community member

Then write:

  • what they studied or do now

  • one thing about their path that surprised you

Then complete: “What stands out to me about their path is ______.”

Optional prompt: “This path feels different from what people usually expect because ___.”
