DC2 Mentorship Pilot Program
Join the College Access Community
Connecting high school students with college students for near-peer guidance through the college planning process
We are piloting a new DC2 College Access Mentorship Program. This pilot connects high school students with college student mentors who have recently navigated the college application process. Mentors share perspective and experience to support high school students on their path.
Open to high school students looking for guidance and to college students interested in supporting others through near-peer mentorship.
Why Near-Peer Mentorship?
Perspective
Recent Experience
College mentors remember the process clearly because they completed it not long ago. Their insight reflects what actually helped, what felt confusing, and what mattered most at the time.
Understanding
Shared Emotions
Having lived through the same milestones, mentors understand the emotional highs, lows, and waiting periods students experience. This shared understanding helps normalize stress and uncertainty.
Reassurance
Lived Insight
Near-peer mentorship offers reassurance grounded in real experience, not theory. Students benefit from hearing directly from someone who has just been there and made it through.
