Step 28

Organizing What You Have Done

By junior year, you have already built experiences that may eventually matter for applications, recommendations, or future opportunities.

Many students wait until senior year to gather everything together.  That usually turns into unnecessary stress and forgotten details.

You do not need a polished resume right now.

Just one organized place.

Core Idea

Keeping track of experiences early reduces stress later.

Your One Action

Create a document titled Experiences Inventory.

Add categories:

  • Activities

  • Work

  • Volunteering

  • Leadership

  • Awards

  • Meaningful Responsibilities

Then spend a few minutes adding anything you remember. No formatting needed yet. Keep this document. Many of the experiences you record here may become useful during applications, essays, interviews, and recommendation requests next year.

Optional prompt: “The experience that currently feels most meaningful is ______.”
