Step 30

Preparing Before Pressure Builds

A lot of senior-year stress comes from unfamiliarity.

Tasks feel bigger when you have never looked at them before.

Small preparation now can make future decisions feel much more manageable later.

You do not need to complete applications yet.

You just need to stop the process from feeling completely unknown.

Core Idea

Small preparation now creates more flexibility later.

Your One Action

Start your Future Prep Tracker.

Choose one small future-related task:

  • open the Common App website

  • review essay prompts

  • create a college spreadsheet

  • organize activities

  • save deadlines

  • start a folder for college notes

Spend five minutes starting it. Then write:

  • what you did

  • how unfamiliar or stressful it felt beforehand (1–10)

  • whether it felt more manageable afterward

Optional prompt: “The part that feels most unfamiliar right now is ______.”
