Step 32

Understanding What Senior Year Will Require

As senior year gets closer, the process may start feeling more real.

Applications, essays, deadlines, recommendations, decisions - hearing all of it at once can sound overwhelming.

But most of it becomes more manageable once it stops feeling unfamiliar.

You do not need to have everything figured out right now.

Core Idea

Things usually feel less stressful once they stop feeling completely unfamiliar.

Your One Action

Start your Senior Year Familiarity Map.

Write down four things that will probably be part of senior year.

Examples:

  • applications

  • essays

  • deadlines

  • recommendation letters

  • financial aid

  • decisions

  • time management

  • organization

Then circle: “The part that currently feels most unfamiliar is ______.”

Optional prompt: “The reason this feels unfamiliar is ______.”
