Step 7

Paying Attention to How You Learn

By junior year, it becomes useful to pay attention to your own patterns instead of assuming every class should be approached the same way.

Some students study for hours without realizing the method itself is not helping much.

Effort matters, sure.

But how you work matters too.

Core Idea

Understanding how you learn makes school feel less random.

Your One Action

Start your: What Actually Helps Me Learn tracker.

Think about a recent quiz, assignment, or test that went better than expected.

Then write one thing you did beforehand that may have helped.

Examples:

  • reviewed earlier

  • studied with someone

  • organized notes

  • slept more

  • asked questions

  • practiced actively

  • reduced distractions

Then complete: “I do this consistently / occasionally because ______.”
