Step 21

Participating More Intentionally

Students tend to stay quieter than they actually want to be.

Not because they have nothing to say.

Usually because they are worried about sounding awkward, being wrong, or drawing attention to themselves.

The problem is that confidence often develops after participation, not before it.

Core Idea

Participation gets easier when you stop waiting to feel completely ready.

Your One Action

Start your Participation Reps List.

Choose one small participation action this week:

  • ask one question

  • contribute during discussion

  • speak to someone new

  • offer help during group work

  • share an idea instead of staying quiet

Then write:

  • what you will do

  • when you will try it

  • stress level beforehand (1–10)

Optional prompt: “The hardest part is usually ______.”
