Step 3

Noticing What Carried Over

A new school year changes your schedule.

It does not automatically change your patterns.

The way you respond to stress, procrastination, pressure, friendships, or responsibility often follows you into the next year unless you notice it directly.

That's not failure. It's just how habits work.

The advantage now is that you have history to learn from.

Core Idea

Unnoticed patterns usually repeat themselves.

Your One Action

Start your Repeat Patterns Tracker.

Write:

  • one pattern from last year you want to keep

  • one pattern you want to improve

Then complete:

  • “This pattern usually shows up when…”

  • “One small thing that might interrupt this pattern is…”

Examples:

  • procrastinating on long-term work

  • overthinking social situations

  • shutting down during stress

  • staying organized during busy weeks

  • asking for help too late

  • managing responsibilities well when routines are stable

Optional prompt: “I tend to repeat this pattern most when ______.”
