Step 32

Exploring Different Types of Work and Paths

As you learn more about yourself, you may also start paying attention to different kinds of jobs, lifestyles, or paths people take.

That does not mean you need to decide your future now.

Sophomore year is more about exposure than certainty.

Core Idea

Exploring possibilities helps you understand yourself more clearly.

Your One Action

Start your Future Paths Inventory.

Think about an adult, an older student, a creator, a professional or just a career path that interests you. Then write:

  • what they do

  • one part of their work or lifestyle that stands out to you.

Then complete: “What specifically catches my attention about this is ______.”

Possible reasons:

  • creativity

  • flexibility

  • teamwork

  • helping people

  • independence

  • stability

  • leadership

  • movement

  • problem-solving

  • purpose
