Step 34

Understanding That Interests Can Change

Students sometimes feel pressure to define themselves too early.

But interests evolve.

People change as they gain confidence, experience, skills, exposure, and different opportunities.

Something that mattered deeply a year ago may matter less now - and something unexpected may become important.

That's totally normal.

Core Idea

You are allowed to grow into different interests over time.

Your One Action

Start your Change Log.

Write down:

  • one interest you have gained recently or

  • one interest that matters less to you now

Then complete: “I think this changed because ______.”

Possible reasons:

  • new experiences

  • different classes

  • new friendships

  • changing priorities

  • confidence growth

  • burnout

  • increased exposure

Optional prompt: “An older version of me probably would have ______.”
