Step 27

Getting Familiar With College Without Pressure

At some point during high school, students start hearing more conversations about college.

For many freshmen, that can be confusing because college feels far away, intimidating or too serious for the moment.

The goal right now is not planning. Just familiarity.

Things usually feel less scary once they stop feeling unknown.

Core Idea

Learning about college gradually makes it feel less intimidating.

Your One Action

Start your Future Familiarity Log.

Spend a few minutes exploring one thing:

  • a college website

  • a campus tour

  • a career video

  • a conversation with someone older

  • a major or program

  • a workplace or profession

Then write:

  • “One thing that surprised me was…”

  • “One thing that feels less confusing now is…”

Optional prompt: “Before this, I assumed ______.”
