Step 32

Understanding What Sophomore Year Will Require

Sophomore year is not a completely new beginning. It is more like a continuation of the habits, patterns, and awareness you are already building now.

As students move into sophomore year, expectations usually increase gradually:

  • more independence

  • more consistency

  • more responsibility

  • more intentional decisions

The goal is not becoming perfect before next year starts. Just more prepared.

Core Idea

Small habits matter more than dramatic resets.

Your One Action

Start your Next-Year Upgrade List.

Write: one habit or skill that will matter more next year.

Then add: one tiny improvement you could realistically practice this summer.

Examples:

  • checking assignments earlier

  • replying to emails faster

  • sleeping more consistently

  • asking questions sooner

  • planning ahead slightly more

  • using reminders

  • organizing materials weekly

Optional prompt: “The version of this habit that would actually help me is ______.”
