Step 36

Finishing Freshman Year With Perspective

Freshman year was never supposed to permanently define your future or prove who you are.

Its purpose was to help you:

  • understand high school

  • understand yourself

  • learn how you respond to new situations

  • begin building habits and awareness

  • become more capable of handling challenges

Even if parts of the year felt difficult, awkward, uncertain, or stressful, you still learned by moving through them.

That’s very important.

Core Idea

Freshman year is a beginning, not a final judgment.

Your One Action

Start your What I’m Carrying Forward document.

Complete:

  • “One thing freshman year helped me understand better is…”

  • “One thing I want to carry into sophomore year is…”

  • “One thing I want to leave behind is…”

Possible categories:

  • stress habits

  • overthinking

  • confidence

  • routines

  • communication

Before starting sophomore year, consider adding anything important from this reflection to your Operating Manual.
