Step 6

Understanding How Academic Momentum Works

One missing assignment or one confusing class usually is not the real problem.

What becomes stressful is when small issues keep stacking quietly:

  • missing work piles up

  • confusion spreads into other assignments

  • deadlines start overlapping

  • avoidance increases

  • catching up feels harder than starting

School stress builds slowly, not all at once.

Core Idea

Small problems are usually easier to handle early than later.

Your One Action

Start a Momentum Check.

This will become a running weekly reset tool you can reuse throughout high school. For today:

  1. Pick one class.

  2. Label your current status:

  • Caught Up

  • Slightly Behind

  • Confused

  • Avoiding

  1. Add one small next step.

Example:

  • Biology — Slightly Behind — organize missing notes

Your goal is not to monitor yourself constantly. It’s to notice problems before they become overwhelming.
